Basic Working Principle of Thermocouple

The electrode of the thermocouple consists of two different conductor materials. When there is a temperature difference between the measuring end and the reference end, the thermal potential will be generated, and the working instrument will display the temperature value corresponding to the thermal potential.

How Thermocouple Works In Power Plant

Thermocouples designed for the power plant can meet the temperature measurement needs of 300MW, 600MW and other generator units and auxiliary equipments. It is shockproof and resistant to high temperature, high pressure and high flow rate steam impact. It can directly measure the temperature of steam pipe, boiler roof and boiler wall, etc.


Take the thermocouple WRNR2-12 as an example, which is mainly used to measure the temperature of steam pipes and boilers in power plants. The thermowell can be separated from the thermocouple elements. When in use, the user can weld or mechanically fix the thermowell on the equipment, and then install the thermocouple to work. It improves the working pressure and service life of the thermowell, and is convenient for the maintenance or replacement of the thermocouple. The thermowell is processed with deep blind hole technology, and the end is not welded, which improves the strength and service life. Users can choose according to different temperature, pressure and steam flow rate.
